Frequently Asked Questions about the Cordless Filter Machine

Q. Can I buy a CFM?
A. The machines are not for sale, but you can hire them. Read here for more information on hiring.

Q. So why is the CFM so good?
A. It is impossible to give a short answer! Essentially, it minimises the risk of burns (OH&S), removes the need for any heavy lifting of oil drums (OH&S), filters a fryer in three minutes, saves time (money!), increases oil life (money!), increases food quality (money!), is cordless  (OH&S), stows away neatly, only needs to be recharged weekly and maintenance is free. To learn even more, read about the CFM here.

Q. What happens if the CFM breaks down?
A. If the CFM breaks down, call your distributor. The first step is to see if it is something minor that can be solved over the phone (ie, when was it last charged). If it cannot be solved over the phone, the distributor will come to see the machine and try to fix it on the spot. If this cannot be done, which is unusual, then the distributor will have a spare machine on hand which will be given to you and the other one will be repaired. All this at no charge - it is part of the service!

Q. I only have one fryer, is it worth getting a CFM?
A. A few easy sums will help you with that one.
How much do you currently spend on oil each month?
How much do you currently spend on filtering each month?
Using the CFM and correct oil handling procedures means your oil should last for approximately seven days rather than the more usual three or four. A three day improvement is a saving of 42%. The CFM costs approximately $175 per month to hire. Using this information, you can easily calculate whether or not a CFM is worth it for you. Of course, this does not even look at the time and money savings, health & safety improvements and food quality!

Q. I have ten fryers, will I need to hire ten CFMs?
A. Certainly not! The CFM only takes three minutes to filter a fryer, and one machine is more than capable of filtering a large number of fryers several times a day.

Q. How can I make my oil last longer?
A. There are a number of things you can do to ensure your oil lasts longer, and all CFM customers receive information about each of these ways. But simply, these are the factors that can influence the life of the oil in your fryer.
          Smoke point of the oil
Foreign bodies in the oil (batter, crumbs, salt)
          Oil temperature
          Number of times oil used
Length of time oil is kept hot
Storage of oil (oxygen, light, temperature)
Amount of food cooked at any one time
          Temperature of food being cooked
Most importantly, the regularity of a quality filtering process!

Q. I have a CFM, but don't need it any more.
A. No worries! We don't expect people to keep hiring a machine they have no use for. Call your distributor and arrange for it to be collected and your account finalised.
